About Golden Heart Community Foundation

Located in the center of Alaska, Fairbanks is Alaska’s second-largest community. The Fairbanks North Star Borough consists of 7,361 square miles with just under 100,000 residents. Fairbanks is a place of contrasts: light and dark, snow and sun, cold and warm. The people who live here are likewise eclectic. Whether an indigenous resident, a “sourdough” who has weathered many seasons, or a “cheechako” newly arrived in the Far North, Fairbanks provides a vibrant, energetic and warm welcome to all. Our moniker as the “Golden Heart” of Alaska describes both our central location and our community’s generosity of spirit.
